La libreria a nastro scalabile
Qualstar della serie Q sono state progettate per essere affidabile e
fornire prestazioni superiori. Questo sistema offre una
scalabità di capacità da 8 a 560 slot/cartucce, ed è
possibile installare da 1 a 42 unità a nastro. Tutte le
librerie Qualstar possono montare drive a nastro a partire
dall' LTO5, LTO-6, LTO-7, che l'LTO-8. Ogni soluzione
Library Qualstar contiene come capacità il multiplo di
quanto si è archiviato in un tape, come ad esempio il modulo library delle Q80 da 6 RU, fornisce fino a 480
Terabyte (LTO-7 nativo) di capacità di stoccaggio o fino a
1,2 Petabyte (LTO-7 in modalità compressa). Con l'LTO-8 è
stata incrementata la capacità ed il transfer rate è
cresciuto fino a 300 Gb/s.
Le funzionalità di accesso sono
identiche sia per chi è vicino alla macchina sia per chi vi
accede da remoto attraverso l'interfaccia di gestione basata
su browser integrato (RMI). Ciò consente agli amministratori
IT di configurare in remoto, gestire e diagnosticare la
library da qualsiasi parte del mondo tramite Internet. Il
sistema Q80 è anche di facile manutenzione e le riparazioni
sono eseguibili “on field “ grazie alla possibilità di
rimuovere dalle unità a nastro gli alimentatori e le schede
controller.
